Paige Bueckers suffered a torn ACL in her left knee earlier this year, which is forcing her to miss the Connecticut Huskies’ entire 2022-23 season. But the setback on the court is not suspending her commercial interests with a bevy of blue-chip brands, making the All-America guard the winner of SBJ’s first Best NIL Athlete of the Year honor.
Bueckers, who was the national freshman of the year last season for the Huskies, averaged more than 20 points per game as a rookie and helped lead UConn to the national championship game. That helped propel the business side of Bueckers’ portfolio and it continues to grow, even with her sitting out the season. For instance, in September she signed with Bose speakers, her first deal since the knee injury was announced in August.
